BioVillage in Lammi

Technology Centre Innopark Ltd. has built a technology park Bio Village to the University of Helsinki's Lammi Biological Station. Bio Village includes an experimental research hall of ecology, which is used to breed the business activities based on the research in environmental technology.

Bio Village is a meeting point for science and business activities that share the common resources and services. In the Bio Village there are rooms for researchers, starting enterprises, meetings and services. Bio Village has space for 10-20 enterprises or organisations and more than 60 work stations.

Bio Village provides solid background support for its operators. The Technology Centre concept – integrated research and office facilities combined with tailored services – is now available. It creates added-value to the users and customers in their daily operations and is part of the regional innovation chain, between environmental businesses and top research & education units.

Bio Village is centrally located in the Häme region. The Bio Village is easily accessible from Tampere – Lahti highway and has good connections to the biggest cities.
(35 km from Hämeenlinna, 40 km from Lahti and 90 km from Tampere).

Häme Centre of Expertise

From January 2003 onwards, technology centre Innopark has been implementing the Häme Centre of Expertise. It is a part of the national centre of expertise programme. The aim of the national programme is to utilize the internationally high-standard knowledge and expertise to benefit business life, to create jobs, and to promote regional development. In line with the specific strengths of the Hämeenlinna region, Häme Centre of Expertise is focusing on the development of vocational competence and learning and e-learning. The programme recruits the regional partners in vocational competence to collaborate with the University of Tampere, HAMK University of Applied Sciences and local companies.

During the years 2007 - 2013 the Hämeenlinna region will be taking part in three clusters:

  • Digital contents: Hämeenlinna, metropolitan area, Tampere, Kouvola
  • Intelligent machinery: Hyvinkää, Hämeenlinna, Lappeenranta, Seinäjoki, Tampere
  • Living: Joensuu, Hämeenlinna, Lahti, metropolitan area
