  • Developing know-how

The Hämeenlinna region takes part in both The Regional Centre Programme (2007-2010) and the Centre of Expertise Programme (2007-2013). The Centre of Expertise Häme takes part in 3 clusters which are digital content, intelligent machinery and the living environment. The Regional Centre Programme of the Hämeenlinna region develops know-how especially in the field of environment. The main focus is on the biological centre of Lammi. The main goal is to enhance research and development operations and also the number of degrees completed.

  • Developing the operational environment

The goal is to ensure vital communal centres which have comprehensive and functional services. The Regional Centre Programme is responsible for executing the peak projects of the municipalities and also for the strategy of land use.

  • Living and welfare

The peak project is the innovation and resource centre project in Virvelinranta. The goal of the project is to centre the services of disabled/handicapped or other challengingly behaving customers to one appropriate, skilful operational environment.

The goal of the Regional Centre Programme is to increase the population of the region with 500 persons per year so that in the year 2010 the region would have altogether 92,000 habitants.

  • Regional cooperation

Five municipalities will merge together and are now searching for a more advanced model of cooperation. The Regional Centre Programme’s goal is to help in this by gathering the development resources in the region and to allocate them properly and also to respond to the labour shortage of the public sector.
